About The Center

Illness & Injuries

Your children’s health is of great importance.  If your child becomes ill while at the school you will be notified to pick your child up immediately.

In such an event, your child will be isolated from the other children until you arrive.  Our policy on vomiting and diarrhea is two or more episodes in a 24-hour period.  Any child sent home for vomiting, diarrhea, or temperature of 100.4 or above (99.4 under the arm) will not be allowed to return into the center for 24 hours. (Ex.  If your child is sent home on Monday, he or she will not be allowed to return until Wednesday.)  Our policies are based on and enforced by the State Minimum Standards and Guidelines.

In case of the onset of a critical illness or injury, every effort will be made to contact parents, individuals designated by the parent, or the child’s physician.  If unable to locate individuals, the child will be transported to the nearest emergency room or clinic.  Depending on the nature of the illness or injury, the child may be transported by an emergency vehicle.

Please do not bring your child to Cub Zone if he/she exhibits any of the following symptoms:

Elevated temperature (100.4 or above or 99.4 under the arm)

Vomiting                                  Undue Irritability

Diarrhea                                   Listlessness

Red throat                                Reddened Eyes

If your child has an incident or accident concerning the head, the parent will be notified immediately. (Even small bumps will be reported to the parent).  Other incidents or accidents will be reported to parents upon their arrival to the center.

Medications

Prescription medications must be clearly labeled with the child’s name.  They must be in their original containers with the original label showing child’s name, date of medication, name of medicine, and dosage to be administered.  If we are to administer the prescription medication, the parent must fill out the medication chart and sign daily.  All medications must be taken home daily.  Over the Counter Medications must be in their original container with directions for your child’s age and/or weight.  If the proper dosage for your child is not printed on the container, then a doctor’s note must accompany the medication with child’s name, amount, and time to be given.  Parents must also fill out the daily medication chart and sign daily.  Parents are responsible to deliver and pick up medications at the end of the day.

Medical requirements

A statement signed by a physician licensed to practice medicine shall certify that the child has been currently examined by a physician and the child is physically able to participate in the school’s programs.  Also, current shot records shall be kept on file at the school and updated at all times.  In lieu of shots records the following would be acceptable: (1) A signed affidavit from a physician that in his/ her opinion immunizations would be injurious to the health and well being of the child or any other member of the family or household. Or, (2) A signed affidavit from the parent or guardian that immunizations conflicts with the beliefs of their religion.

If your child has a medical condition of any kind, (i.e. food allergies skin conditions, etc.) we must have a written statement on file from a licensed physician to ensure proper care is given.  Children must be able to participate in day to day activities.  (i.e. playing outside, classroom activities etc.)  The parent must supply any special dietary needs.
